Smooth as silk. If you have never had a sour cocktail, then stop what you are doing and follow this recipe. Imagine the smooth warmth of whiskey balanced delicately with tangy fresh lemon and rounded off with a touch of bitters!
This sour recipe can be adapted for different alcohol bases, why not experiment and substitute with your favourite spirit of choice. We love the whiskey sour but a gin sour is also a winner for us.
Ingredients
60ml Whiskey
30ml Lemon Juice
15ml Simple syrup
15ml Egg whites (*or Aquafaba)
Ice for shaking
Garniche79 Lemon wheel to garnish
Method
Combine whiskey, juice, simple syrup and egg whites in your cocktail shaker. Shake well for 15 seconds. ("Dry Shaking" is important to achieve the fluffiest and creamiest texture for your sour.) Add plenty of ice and shake well for 30 seconds.
Double strain to make sure no ice falls through and top with your Garniche79 lemon wheel.
*Aquafaba is a vegan alternative. This is simply the liquid left over from a can of chick peas. It has the same consistency as egg white and a mild flavour so is the perfect substitute for those looking to avoid the egg whites.
